I get a lot of questions about what makes an online business manager different from a visual assistant. You may have wondered about this… Which is better? What are the benefits of each item? Who should I hire?
So today, I put them in my head, explaining what each of them does to be able to hire the right person for your team.
Visual Assistant (VA)
They work as a single store, they do all the little things: directing, web design, email marketing, social media, simple graphics, copywriting, editing, and project management. They work well as an unlimited graphic design, they are reliable, and they know at least as much as you do about the performance of your business behind the scenes.
Think of them as your general doctor. You will not go to them for a special need, where it would be better to turn to a specialist. They are generalists, so their knowledge within each specialty may not be as good as it could be through OBM or a multi-VA team. Who should hire a VA? Any businessman or coach who makes money every month needs a VA to use his time. They will let you focus on your customers and your growth strategies.
Online Business Manager (OBM)
Think of them as the VA of Major Le League. They do everything the VA does, but at a high level. They have been doing this for years, so they know the ins and outs of running an online business better than you.
They have a VA team that supports them with a deep understanding of each practice area. So in other words, they have a graphic designer for website who does only design work, a copywriter who only writes a copy of the sale, and a technical team that handles everything behind the scenes. They will take care of all the team managers, leaving you time to focus on what you are doing best.
Who should hire OBM? Because there is a team involved, the productivity of the work is better but the costs are often higher. I recommend hiring OBM once you earn 5 cents a month.
So who wins this head-to-head battle?
That depends on you and your needs. One of the benefits of my many VA team is that I can give you both options to meet your specific needs, even if that changes as you grow older. Now over to you! I would love to hear in the comments about your knowledge about both VAs and OBMs.
